The Clutha Catchment

This is a private road and access is through cooperative landowners follow the gravel road and park on terrace to the left 50 m uphill of the locked gate.  Walking access from the car park over stile to the head of Lake Dunstan and the Clutha River.

Access starts 100m south of Locharburn culvert on SH6.  Locharburn Road is marked with Blue Angler Access Cap.  Walk / Cycle / 4WD access to the Clutha River.

Access off SH6 marked with a Blue Angler Access Cap.  Walk / Cycle / 2WD / 4WD to the end of the formed track.

Access from the end of Harris Place, Luggate.  Walk / Cycle to the Clutha River on the Luggate Creek Track.

Access off SH8a on the south side of the Red Bridge

Access off Shortcut Road (SH8A).  Car park gives access to the Upper Clutha River Track to Albert Town.  Walk / Cycle.

Access of Shortcut Road (SH8A) marked with a Blue Angler Access Cap at gate.  Walk / Cycle /  4WD to Reko's Point.  This access joins up with the Upper Clutha River Track

Access off SH6 via Stevensons Road.  Marked with several Blue Angler Access Caps.  This access joins up with the Upper Clutha River Track.  Walk / Cycle.

Access off Kinnibeg Street and Wicklow Terrace in Albert Town.  Walk / Cycle / 2WD / 4WD.  The access joins the Upper Clutha River Track.

Access off Alison Avenue.  Walking access joins up with the Upper Clutha River Track

Access from the corner of Alison Avenue and Gunn Road, Albert Town.  Fish & Game signage at entrance to Hikuwai Conservation Area.  Walk / Cycle from the two car parks.  Upstream Access is on the Outlet Track which gives good access to Deans Bank and the outlet of Lake Wanaka or access downstream to the Albert Town bridge.

Access from the Outlet Road, North Lake.  Walk / Cycle on the Outlet Track which leads downstream to Deans Bank and Gunn Road Access.

Access off SH6 via Dublin Bay Road.  Dublin Bay forms at the head of Dublin Bay Road.  Follow vehicle track past Fish & Game access signage.  Walk / Cycle / 4WD access to Lake Wanaka outlet.

Access from the Albert Town Recreation Reserve.  Walk / Cycle upstream to Deans Bank.

Access off SH6 from the car park at Albert Town Recreation Reserve.  Cross the Hawea River footbridge and walk or cycle to the Clutha River from the Newcastle Track which travels downstream to the red bridge at Luggate.

Access off Kane Road is marked with a Blue Anglers Access Cap at the entrance.  Walk / Cycle / 4WD.

Access off SH8A via first gate on right on road to Fulton Hogan quarry.  Access in part is private with cooperative landowners which leads to the DOC's Kanes Scenic Reserve.  Walk / Cycle / 4WD. 

Access off SH8A via River Ridge Road.  Follow several Blue Angler Access Caps to the River.  Walk / Cycle / 2WD / 4WD.

Access off SH8A via DOC's Mata-Au Scientific Reserve.  Blue Angler Access Cap at the gate.  Walk / Cycle / 4WD.

Access off Maori Point Road, down Bowman Road to Trevathan Way.  Follow Blue Angler Access Caps to the river.  Walk / Cycle /  2WD / 4WD.

Access 200m south of Lindis Bridge on SH8 marked with Blue Angler Access Cap.  Walk / Cycle / 2WD / 4WD to lower Lindis River and Clutha River.

Access off SH8 via Oliver Road.  Access in part is private with cooperative landowners.  Walk / Cycle / 2WD / 4WD.

Access off SH8at Rocky point, Bendigo Wildlife Reserve picnic area.

Access off SH8 at Bendigo which is the head of Lake Dunstan.  Bendigo is a camping, picnic area and has a boat ramp.
